A mass shooting in Johannesburg on Sunday morning sent shockwaves around the world after around 12 unknown suspects opened fire on customers outside a bar. About nine people were killed and 10 injured in the second such shooting in South Africa this month, according to a Reuters report.
While South African police have launched a manhunt for suspects in the case, here’s what we know so far:
- The gunmen then stole valuables and phones from the victims and fled the scene.
- The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, police said.
This mass shooting comes nearly 15 days after the Saulsville shooting that killed a dozen people, including a 3-year-old child. On December 6, gunmen attacked a hostel outside the capital Pretoria in Atteridgeville in one of the deadliest recent incidents.
