Former US President Joe Biden first appeared in public since his diagnosis of prostate cancer and on Friday was attended by Robert Hunter Biden II.
The ceremony took place at Salisbury School in Salisbury in Connecticut and joined several members of the Biden family.
Photographs published on Instagram by former first lady Jill Biden and daughter Ashley Biden showed 81 -year -old state proudly with her family. Jill indicated one picture: “Proud Nana and Pop! Congrats on Hunter – we are so proud of you.”
Robert Hunter Biden II, 18 -year -old son Hallie and late Beau Biden, graduated from the encouraging family. Beau Biden, the eldest son of the President, died of brain cancer in 2015.
Cancer reveals the days before the family event
Just a few days earlier, Biden’s personal office issued a statement with revealing his diagnosis of metastatic prostate cancer with Gleason score 9, suggesting an aggressive form of disease. The statement reads:
“Last week, President Joe Biden was observed for the new finding of the prostate node after he had experienced growing symptoms of urine. On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer … with bones.”
Biden later thanked the public for their support and wrote in a post on social media: “Cancer will touch us all. Like many of you, we have jill and I learned that we were strongest in broken places. Thank you for lifting us with love and support.”
Clarification of timing diagnosis
In response to speculation of media media media media media media media media media media explained that the former president was not tested for prostate cancer in more than ten years and that his diagnosis was only confirmed on 16 May.
“He had never been diagnosed with prostate cancer before last week,” the office said. Cancer, added, “seems to be sensitive to hormones, allowing effective control.”
Medical experts have noted that the advanced cancer state suggests that it could have evolved for several years without detection.
The timing raises political questions
The diagnosis came just before the release of “Original Sin”, books Jake Tapper CNN and journalist Axios Alex Thompson. The book claims that Biden’s helpers and political allies protected the public from signs of his declining cognitive health during the 2024 campaign.
The Biden family was pushing back. The granddaughter of Naomi Biden has published on X: “The book is a bunch of non -original, uninspired lies written by irresponsible journalists who promote themselves to make quick money.”
She continued: “All this at the expense of a man so totally good and honest that it is impossible for these people to ever understand why or how it all.”
The former president is currently controlling treatment options. While his diagnosis was dominated by the debate on age and the leadership of fitness, his appearance on his grandson served as a defiant and promising gesture.
