Parvathi Salera, a student of JNN College of Engineering, Shivamogga, bagged four gold medals by securing the first position in the MBA final examinations conducted by the Visvesvaraya Technological University. Sanjay MV, another student secured the eighth rank in M.Tech (Computer Science).
GS Narayana Rao, president of the National Education Society, congratulated the students who secured the ranks during a press conference in Shivamogga on Monday. The medals and ranks were presented to the students at the VTU convocation in Belagavi.
Parvathi Salera, who secured the top rank in her MBA programme, had earlier bagged six gold medals in her BE (Computer Science) degree as a student of the same college. She is the granddaughter of Salera Siddappa, former MLA, from Bhadravati. Her mother, Aishwarya Salera, a college graduate, got the fifth rank in her BE (Electronics and Communication) programme, Mr Rao recalled.
The rank holders will be felicitated by the company during the inauguration of the Idea Lab to be held in the last week of February, he added.
Nes Secretary SN Nagaraj, School Principal Y Vijay Kuar, Nes Associate Secretary P Narayan, Research Dean SV Sanarayana, Head of MBA Srikant and others were present at the press conference.
