The Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a preacher from Haryana’s Mewat in connection with a white-collar terror cell operating in Faridabad University, officials said on Wednesday.
The preacher was identified as Maulvi Ishtiyaq. According to news agency PTI, Ishtiyaq lived in a rented house in the Al Falah University complex in Faridabad. It was in his house that the police secured more than 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate and sulfur.
Ishtiyaq was brought to Srinagar. He is likely to be arrested.
He will be the ninth person to be arrested in the case by the police, who on November 10 conducted interstate raids along with their counterparts in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to bust the outlawed “white collar” terror network Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
They stored the explosive material in their rented residence Dr. Muzammil Ganaie alias Musaib and Dr. Umar Nabi, the man who drove the explosives-laden car that exploded outside Red Fort on Monday evening, killing 12 people.
