Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two suspected ground workers with alleged terror links from Ganderbal district, officials said on Thursday (Jan 1, 2026).
A police spokesman said the police recovered arms, ammunition and ₹8.40 crore in cash from two persons who were detained during a check at Gundrehman Bridge late on Wednesday (December 31, 2025) night.
The accused have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir and Shabnum Nazir.
“Seized from the arrested persons also included a Chinese pistol, one magazine, four rounds of ammunition and two hand grenades,” the spokeswoman said.
A case under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act has been registered at the Ganderbal police station, the official said, adding that investigations are underway to ascertain the source, motive and possible links related to the seized arms, ammunition and cash.
