In a letter to Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, the Navyandhra RWS Contractors Association has highlighted the severe financial crisis affecting over 750 MSME contractors engaged in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works.
In a letter dated March 29, the association’s general secretary Srinivasa Prasad Koneru alleged that there were significant delays in payments and distortions in the allocation of funds in favor of large corporations.
Of the ₹1,331 crore released from February 2025, corporate entities have reportedly received ₹932 crore, while only ₹263 crore has been allocated to MSME contractors, he said. The gap widened further in March 2026 when ₹562 crore was released to corporate firms, compared to just ₹85.88 crore for 442 MSME contractors, he added.
The association said outstanding bills as on March 19 stood at ₹1,492 crore, of which ₹850 crore was for small and medium enterprises alone. The suppliers say the long delays have left them in financial distress, with many accounts turning into non-performing assets and an inability to pay workers.
The association warned of protests and urged the government to clear the charges immediately, saying thousands of families dependent on these small businesses are at risk.
