Jipmer holds a CME in the treatment of orthopedic infections

The Department of Orthopaedics, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on “Orthopedic Infection Management” here recently.

The program brought together orthopedic specialists, faculty members, residents and delegates for an intensive academic exchange on recent advances in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of orthopedic infections.

According to a press release, CME featured expert-led scientific sessions and case-based panel discussions covering the basics of musculoskeletal infections, pediatric bone and joint infections, post-traumatic and surgical infections, spinal infections including tuberculosis, periprosthetic joint infections, diabetic foot infections, atypical and fungal infections, and comprehensive limb salvage strategies.

A major highlight of the program was its emphasis on case-based learning and multidisciplinary clinical decision-making, which allowed participants to consider challenging real-world scenarios, current diagnostic approaches, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and advanced surgical management strategies.
