MLA of Gujarat Jignesh Mevani accused Rashtriya Swayamsevak sangh (RS) to resist the constitution, and urged people “Samvidhan Shakhas” to face the Shakha.
Mr. Mevani, who was charged with “Samvidhan of Samlangshakhara Samavesha” on Saturday, the Convention of the Constitution in Davangere, accused the RSS and BJP of deciding to defeat Br’s Ambedkar’s Institute.
“The only way to oppose the RSS’s efforts is to start Samvidhan Shakhas against RSS Shakhas. You should start groups in your districts, taluks and shavis to stand up against the RSS,” people gathered at Congress.
Tamil Nadu MP and former officer IAS Sasikanth Senthil urged people to join the effort to protect the constitution that must be secured in favor of future generations.
He noted that the economist Parakala Prabhakar said: “Over the past 100 years, there has been a group of people working against constitutional values. I was concerned about the absence of an army to defend the constitution. Now that I saw the assembly, my fear disappeared,” he said.
The writer of Baragur Ramacandrappa, who launched the Convention, said that the real patriots are those who respect the constitution, fight for equality and seek to secure harmony.
During the struggle of freedom, Ashfaqulla Khan and Ram Prasad fought together and hung them on the same day, which, as he said, showed the “character of the real India”. Referring to the recent terrorist attack in which tourists were killed, he said: “The development that occurred after the incident showed the true spirit of India. Local Muslim people came to rescue tourists. This is a real India.”
Noor Sridhar of Eddel Karnataka, one of the organizers of the event, said that the aim of the Convention was to motivate people to join the campaign to defend the Constitution. “We set the goal of preparing at least one lake citizen to defend the institute,” he said.
