
Jharkhand Municipal Elections Results 2026: Counting of votes for polling 48 urban local bodies in Jharkhand is underway amid tight security, officials said.
Voting was held for 48 local bodies on Monday, February 23, using two colors of ballot papers – white and pink – to elect councilors and mayors or chairmen, he said.
“At the initial stage of counting, the ballots are being separated. The results, starting with ward councillors, are likely to come in a few hours,” said State Election Commission Secretary Radhe Shyam Prasad.

Elections were conducted for the posts of mayor and chairman in 48 urban local bodies (ULBs) along with councilors in 1,042 wards comprising nine city corporations, 20 nagar parishes and 19 nagar panchayats.
There are 1,087 constituencies in 48 ULBs, but elections were held in 1,042 as 41 councilors were elected unopposed, three constituencies remained vacant after no nomination was received and polling in one Mango Municipal Corporation ward was canceled after the death of a candidate.
A total of 562 candidates – including 235 women – applied for the post of mayor and chairman. 5,562 candidates applied for the positions of district councilors, of which 2,727 were women.
