The new metadata analysis revealed that almost three minutes of tracking shots were settled from what the US Ministry of Justice (DO) and the Federal Office for the Investigation (FBI) called as a “full raw” video of a single working camera near Jeffrey Epstein at night before his death. The discovery that Wired was concerned about how the video was modified and submitted to the public.
Shots shortened in spite of the “raw” label
The FBI and the FBI published the shots last week as part of Trump’s efforts to ask the persistent questions about Epstein’s death in 2019 to relax. However, according to the American Magazine website built into the video, it shows that it has been stitched together by Adobe Premire Pro from two separate clips, which is contrary to the claims that the shots were not prepared.
Another analysis of publications revealed that the first clip originally took place almost three minutes longer than what was included in the final version. The cut segment ends exactly at 23:58:58 on August 9, 2019, just before the widely announced one -minute “reset”, which occurred at midnight.
Gaps on the timeline and the history of adjustments
The message said two video source files were called “2025-05-22 16-35-21.mp4” and “2025-05-22 21-12-48.mp4”. The first file was 4 hours, 19 minutes and 16 seconds long, but only 4 hours, 16 minutes and 23.368 seconds got into the released shots – putting the gap for 2 minutes and 53 seconds. The second clip starts exactly at 12:00:00 and runs until 6:40:00.
While the FBI claimed that the midnight gap was caused by the normal reset of the monitoring system, the forensic review of the Wired-confirmed two independent experts-indicates that the video has been actively modified and rescued during the three and half-hour period 23 May.
Internal marks point to further check
Both “RAW” and improved versions of shots, as is reviewed in the publication, contain internal commentary marks – annotations, often used by video editors to indicate specific moments. Improved video, known as video 2 from the FBI, includes 15 such brands aligned with the movement near the “46 doors” located near the Epstein cell block in the Metropolitan Correction Center (MCC). While the signs are visible in metadata, the original comments were removed before release.

Answer Association and FBI
When Wired on Tuesday he contacted Natalie Baldassarre’s public affairs only two minutes later and said, “refer to the FBI.” The FBI refused to express itself.
Previous messages marked deficiencies in sight
Report 2023 from the office of the General Inspector (OIG) has already identified serious problems with the MCC tracking system and noted that it was “outdated”, poorly maintained and that DVR often did not work. At the time of Epstein’s death, only two cameras near the special housing unit (SHU), where he was held. One of these cameras caught the corridor outside the levels, although Epstein’s cell door itself was not visible. According to OIG, the staircase was also partially prevented at the level where it was held.
Despite these restrictions, both OIG 2023 reports and from last week, the FBI Memo claims that every individual entering the Epstein level would be captured on the camera. The memorandum also clearly stated that there was no “clients’ in question and reaffirmed the conclusion that Epstein had died suicide.
Metadata also included a partial username “Mjcole ~ 1”, suggesting that someone could be responsible for adjustments. However, cable notes that the full name cannot be determined only from metadata.
