SL Bhoje Gowda, JD(S) MLC stranded in Dubai due to conflict in West Asia, sent a video message appealing to the state government to extend a helping hand to the people stranded at the airport.
Mr. Gowda, a native of Chikkamagaluru, said he heard loud explosions in Dubai, where he was staying in a property belonging to one of his friends. “The situation in Dubai is not normal. This morning, when we had breakfast, we heard three loud explosions. There is an atmosphere of fear in the city,” he said.
The lawmaker said he spoke to Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Law Minister HK Patil over phone and told them that people stranded at the airport needed help. Arrangements should be made for them to stay in the city until flight operations resume. “Local people and organizations of Kannadigas have come forward to lend a helping hand to the people who are stuck here. We had a Google Meet here yesterday with representatives of the Kannada Sangha,” he said.
The MLC was stranded at the Dubai airport on February 28 while on his way back to Bengaluru from Johannesburg.
