Janata gave (secular), which went an exception to the alleged unauthorized felling of hundreds of trees for laying a road in the area of reserve forests near the HallIGERI in the Dharwad district, demanding a thorough probe by an independent agency.
The President of the District unit JD (S), which concerned Dharwad’s press staff, claimed that an influential politician and his relatives, in accordance with forest officials, claimed that an influential politician and his relatives were involved in the pretext of laid roads.
Mr. Hunasimarad claimed that in the present case the officials of the forest department themselves facilitated the felling of trees in reconnaissance numbers 22, 23 and 24 villages of Hall. The alleged incident occurred only 100 meters from Banadur Naka (forest department checkpoint), he said.
Mr. Hunashimarad also claimed that the assistant of the forest conservator (ACF) was hand in hand with people who were involved in the felling of trees. He also questioned the silence of the MLA Aravind Bellad in this matter.
The leader JD (s) also questioned the silence of the District Minister Santosh Lad in this matter. He claimed that none of the ministers, the MLA and the district officials visited the place where the felling occurred. “It is concerned that the ACF, which is allegedly involved in this matter, was entrusted with the management of this matter. I wrote to the chief minister and minister of the forest who demanded a thorough probe,” he said.
