
Former cricket Madan Lal suggested that Jasprit Bumrah should replace Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Indian Men’s test team.
31-year-old Bumrah formerly Captain India in an overcrowded fifth test against England in Birmingham in 2022 and again during two matches in Border-Gavascar Trophy 2024–25.
India under his leadership secured the commanding 295-Run victory over Australia in the opening test last November– The biggest victory of India on the edge of running on Australian soil. He also led the team in the New Year’s test on a cricket playground in Sydney, where Rohit Sharma decided to sit.
Madan Lal, a member of the 1983 World Cup Indian team, said that Bumrah should take over as a test captain if fit and available.
“I feel that Jasprit Bumrah is the right person who leads India. Fitness is another thing, but if it is available and fit, then it is the first choice,” Lal PTI said.
Bumrah also took 15 goals out of three tests as a captain with the best numbers 18-6-30-5 in the first promotion of Perth’s test.
