World No. 1 Jannik Sinner expressed his recognition for Italy and Paris goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was present to support him during his opening match at the Open 27th May. Sinner described Donnarumm as the “best goalkeeper” in sincere mention after his victory of direct sets over France Arthur Rinderknech.
The best deployed Italian continued in its impressive form of Grand Slam, Ensuring victory 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 under the lights in the court Philippe-Chamrier. With this result, Sinner has now won 15 consecutive Grand Slam matches and maintained his dominant record against opponents with a lower rating, with a 62-match lane against players outside TOP 20. Both share a strong personal bond and often refer to each other in the media. Sinner has previously revealed that they often come together to play popular Call of Duty video games.
“Very special guest there up there. Gigio .. Thank you for coming. He’s the best goalkeeper you’ll have, people.” Sinner said.
Donnarumma was not the only known face in the stalls. Several PSG players were also seen, including Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. Their appearance came just days before the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League final in Paris Saint-Germain against Milan Serie and Giants, which took place 1 June.
The French Open refers to the second Sinner tournament from the return of a three -month doping suspension. The ban, announced shortly after victory at the Australian Open in January, was based on a case that appeared before last year’s US Open, which also won.
With the strong start of his campaign Roland-Garros, Sinner is now looking at his next challenge against another local hero, Richard Gasquet in the second round when he continues to persecute the second Grand Slam.
