
Jammu and Kashmir have been winding under severe rainfall in the last few days. This caused massive lightning floods and landslides in UT, which forced the closure of the National Highway Jammu-Srinagar (NH-44).
On Monday, April 21, another landslide of Jammu and Kashmir Zojila Pass hit and suspended all traffic along the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road.
The commuters were strictly recommended to avoid traveling on the National Highway Jammu-Srinagar (NH-44), Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) and Sinthan’s highest road until the roads are cleaned for traffic movement, Greater Kashmir, reported local day.
JAMMU-SRINAGAR National Highway (NH-44)
The landslides that blocked the National Highway Jammu-Srinagar (NH-44) left hundreds of stuck on Sundays on a 250-kilometer section, the only road in any weather that connects Kashmir with the rest of India.
Reportedly, the locals in this area were forced to complete the way on foot, without the possibility of moving vehicles to NH 44.
Mughal Road reopened after closing NH-44
After the shutdown of the NH-44, the Mughal road connecting the twins of the Rajouri and Poonch districts was reopened for traffic control in Jammu with Shopian District South Kashmir.
The Mughal road usually remains during the winter due to heavy snowfall, especially in Peer Ki Gali. After three months it was reopened after three months for one -way operation 15th April. However, the bad weather, including fresh snowfall, forced its closure on April 18. The road was reopened, nor informed.
Prognosis of the Jammu and Kashmir
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned against severe rainfall accompanied by storms and lightning in at least 13 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ramban and Ganderbal, including Monday, April 21.
According to the latest Met Dept update, the weather is likely to improve in the next few days.

At least 3 people, including two children, were killed after strong collisions running lightning floods in Ramban.
The local market, which was home to 20-25 shops, was also washed away due to calamity.
