The legendary England Fast Bowler James Anderson enjoys renaming the England-India test series. The upcoming edition of the bilateral series will be supposed to have the names of James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar, instead of the traditional Pataudi trophy.
While the cricket control council in India or England and Wales has still had to confirm the development, Anderson responded to the news and said it was a huge honor for him to have his name associated with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
“It’s a huge honor,” Anderson said in an Espncricinfo interview. “I still can’t believe it. Sachin is someone I looked up at when I grew up, even though I didn’t want to make a service with his age.
“I remember watching him, the absolute legend of the game, and I played a lot against him. So having this trophy is a huge honor for me and I couldn’t be more proud,” he added.
The Pataudi Trophy, first introduced in 2007, was traditionally awarded as a bilateral test series with an edge in England to designate 75 years since the first test between India and England. It was named after the Pataudi family, which produced two Indian captains: Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, well known as Tiger Pataudi.
This time, however, the series does not be called Pataudi trophy. Instead, the newly introduced TROBULKA TRODULKAR-andrson trophy, which honors Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson-DVA icons that defined the era of cricket rivalry.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar killed the English cricket record before reports that he would retire Pataudi Trophy.
“The recent report that the ECB will retire Pataudi trophy, given by the winners of the test series between England and India in England, is truly worrying. This is the first time he has heard of a trophy named after individual players who are retired, although the decision is completely ECB.
Tendulkar, who played 200 tests between 1989 and 2013, remains the highest scorer in the history of test crickets with 15,921 runs. Anderson is England All-Time the leading goal and the most successful pace of the pitch in the test cricket, with 704 goals according to his name.
Since the retirement of the international cricket last summer, Anderson, it continues to contribute to the English cricket as a bowling consultant and remains active in the regional cricket for Lancashire after a recent signature of the extension of the contract.
Both giants faced each other in 14 tests, with Anderson released nine times Tendulkar – most of the pitch against the Indian legend of launching.
