
The Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar travels to China to attend the Foreign Ministers’ meeting in the Shanghai organization for cooperation (SCO) in the Chinese city of Tianjin next week, the official announcement in Beijing said on Saturday (July 12, 2025).
The meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of SCO will take place in Tianjin 15 July, a statement spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing on Saturday (July 12, 2025).
In addition to participating in the SCO meeting, Mr. Jaishankar also visits China, the spokesman said without specifying it.
At the invitation of a member of the Political Office of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister Wang YI, Foreign Ministers of other Member States of SCO and head of the permanent block bodies, they will attend a meeting.
Ministers will exchange opinions on the cooperation of SCO in various fields and main international and regional issues, he said.
SCO includes 10 Member States – China, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
There are a number of problems between the two countries, including the current normalization process between the two countries, in interviews.
Previously, the news stated that Mr. Jaishankar would visit Beijing 13 July for interviews with Mr. Wang.

Mr. Jaishankar’s visit is a follow -up to the recent visits of the Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh and the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval to China.
It would be the first visit to Mr. Jaishankar in China after the ties between the two countries came under strict tension after a military distance to 2020 along the real inspection line (LAC) in the eastern Ladak.
This month, Mr. Wang can also visit India to organize a new round of interviews with NSA Doval in the Dialogue Special Representatives (SR) about the border dispute.
Mr. Wang and Mr. Doval are a designated SRS mechanism of borders.
Both countries organized 23 rounds of interviews within the SRS mechanism to solve a worrying border dispute that covered 3,488 km, but without success.
Last month, Minister of Defense Singh traveled to the Chinese port city of Qingdao to participate in the SCO defense conference.
China is the current Chairman of the SCO and organizes meetings of the group in this capacity.
