He and Jaishankar remembered his trip to UPSC on Sunday and said his interview for the Delhi rehearsal took place on the same day when an emergency was raised – March 21, 1977.
“(1977) The results of the elections came from the previous day … The feeling of defeat of the emergency rule came into understanding. In a way, it got me through an interview,” Jaishankar said.
The 21-month emergency situation was stored on June 25, 1975 and canceled on March 21, 1977.

Jaishankar shared his experience and addressed the assembly of a fresh dose of participants in the public services and described the sought -after UPSC test similar to “Agni Pariksha” (Trial by Fire).

Eam, who is now 70 years-year-old that his 22-year-old has returned from an interview with two key ways with him-the meaning of communication under pressure and that important people can live in a “bubble”.
“My interview was 21 March 1977. That was the day when the emergency was canceled. Recalling! So I’m going to talk to Shahjahan Road … the first person that morning,” Eam recalled.

“We took part in the 1977 election campaign. We all went there and worked on the defeat of an emergency,” said Jaishankar.

And the second thing he said, he learned that day, about this “bubble”.
“These people were really shocked, they couldn’t believe that this election result occurred, while for us, ordinary students have seen that there is a wave against an emergency situation,” Eam recalled from the interview experience.
Describe the challenge to explain this shift to people “interconnected and sympathetic to the government” without offending them – noted Jaishankar – a test in diplomacy, long before he officially became a diplomat.
