Jaishankar meets Prince Rahim Aga Khan V

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday (September 10, 2026) said he met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V and discussed the “impressive work” in social development and heritage conservation by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKND) and explored other opportunities.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims, began his visit to India on September 9 at the invitation of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan.

It will be in India by September 15.

“Delighted to meet His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V. Discussed impressive social development and heritage preservation work by Aga Khan Development Network @akdn and other opportunities in India and abroad,” Mr Jaishankar wrote on X.

AKDN is a global non-profit organization headed by Prince Rahim Aga Khan V. It works in areas including education, culture, agriculture and food security, and economic development and finance, according to its official website.

Earlier, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V called on President Droupadi Murma at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

He also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (September 10, 2026).

PM Modi and Prince Rahi Aga Khan discussed India’s partnership with AKDN in agriculture and rural development, among others.

This is his first visit to India since his accession as the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community.
