The Minister of Outdoor Affairs has recently stated that it is natural that when two countries involve conflict, another country in the world “calls and tries to indicate their concerns”.
“But the stopping of shooting and military action was something that was negotiated directly between India and Pakistan,” Jaishankar repeated in an interview with Dutch public broadcasters.
Jaishankar said this in response to the question of the claims of US President Donald Trump that the US “mediated” interviews between India and Pakistan, as the tension spread between the two countries.
“Not only we … ‘
Jaishankar said that US state secretary Mark Rubio and vice president JD called Vance. “Rubio talked to me, Vance spoke to our prime minister. They had their opinion and talked to us and talked to Pakistani, just like some other countries.”
“The United States was not alone in it. I think there were some countries in the Gulf. There were others,” said Jaishankar.
Jaishankar said that as the leaders of nations not only from the US contacted India in the middle of the conflict: “One thing (was given) very clear to all who talked to us.”
“We have very clearly explained to all who talked to us, not only for the United States, but to everyone. He said,” Look, if Pakistani want to stop shooting, they have to tell us. We have to hear it from them. Their general must call our general and say it and that happened, “he said.
On May 10, India and Pakistan agreed to achieve a “bilateral understanding” after an intense cross attack along the borders since the opening of the Sindoor operation.
“Don’t pretend that Pakistan will not participate in terrorist attacks”
In an interview with Dutch Daily De VolkskrantJaishankar said, “Let’s stop pretending that Pakistan will not participate in terrorist attacks on India.”
Asked if he suggests that Pakistan supports terrorism, Jaishankar answered: “I don’t propose that I mention it. Suppose in the middle of the city like Amsterdam
“We should not go along with the story that Pakistan does not know what is happening. The best known terrorists on the UN Sanction List are in Pakistan,” said Jaishankar.
He also claimed that “they (terrorists) operate in large cities, in daylight. Their addresses are known. Their activities are known. Their mutual contacts are known. So let’s not pretend that Pakistan is not involved. The state is involved.
Jaishankar mentioned an attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir and said that Pakistani military leadership has extreme religious views.
“We want the definitive end of terrorism. Our message is therefore: yes, the ceasefire has ended military actions against each other, but if the terrorist attacks from Pakistan continue, they will have consequences. Pakistanians must understand it very well,” Jaishankar said.
Jaishankar was in the Netherlands instead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who canceled his planned state visit for a recent military exchange between India and Pakistan. The visit focused on economic cooperation and counter -terrorism, as well as preparatory discussions for the overpriced visit to PM Modi at the end of this year.
