
The Dalit trade union unorganized union will hold a public procession on Thursday at 11 am as part of its Jaggalagi festival.
Speaking to reporters in Hubballi on Monday, president of the organization Vijay Karra said the parade aims to highlight the history of leather craft and the cultural heritage of the community.
The event will include a grand march accompanied by the traditional leather instrument Jaggalagi, which symbolically commemorates the history, heritage and cultural identity of the community.
The program is jointly organized by the Dalit Trade Union Unorganized Union and various Dalit organizations.
The procession will start from Durgadbail and proceed through Broadway Road, Shivaji Circle, Koppikar Road, Sir Siddappa Kambali Road and Sangolli Rayanna Circle before reaching the Municipal Corporation (HDMC) premises.
Floral tributes will be paid to Sangolli Rayanna and Sir Siddappa Kambali and the procession will conclude with a garland offering to Ambedkar at BR Ambedkar Circle.
