YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy chaired a key meeting with party MLAs and MLCs at the party headquarters in Tadepalli on Thursday to outline the strategy to be adopted in the budget session of the Legislative Assembly and Council.

He accused the government coalition of a deliberate attempt to suppress the voice of the opposition party in the House of Representatives.

Although the YSRCP is the only opposition party in the legislature, it was not recognized as the main opposition “to prevent it from securing sufficient speaking time”.

“The government does not want our voice to be heard. That is why it is denying us official recognition,” he said, urging party members to raise public issues in the Council, where the party has a stronger numerical representation.

Laddu row

In the context of the ongoing controversy over Tirumala laddu prasadam and alleged irregularities in the supply of ghee to TTD, the former chief minister accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of spreading misinformation.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that the tenders for the supply of ghee were completed in May 2024 and that the supply was started only after the change of government. He further claimed that the tankers rejected after quality tests were reintroduced later during Mr. Naidu’s tenure, citing references from the CBI record sheet.

Mr. Jagan also accused the coalition government of being “mired in scams” and alleging that 54 acres of land worth ₹5,000 crore in Visakhapatnam was allotted to GITAM University, allegedly linked to the chief minister’s relatives.

He urged the party legislators to prepare thoroughly and present evidence-based arguments and expressed confidence that the YSRCP would return to power in the next elections.
