Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu handed over the house patta to the beneficiary during the launch of the ‘Saamuhika Gruhapravesams’ program at Devagudipalli in Annamayya district on Wednesday.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu criticized his predecessor YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for “bankrupting the state, misusing central funds and crippling welfare and housing projects”.
Addressing a public meeting after the virtual launch of ‘Saamuhika Gruhapravesams’ (mass housing warming ceremony) at Devagudipalli village in Chinnamandem mandal of Annamayya district on November 12, 2025 (Wednesday), Mr Naidu termed Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as “deep, five-year state chaos”
“The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government stopped the state for indiscriminate loans and not a single rupee was spent wisely. Even central government funds were diverted on a whim. The YSRCP leaders looted everything. They did not spare even the sand meant to help the poor build their dream homes,” alleged Mr Naidu.
Continuing his tirade, the Chief Minister claimed that 4.73 lakh houses sanctioned during the earlier tenure of the Telugu Desam Party government were canceled by the YSRCP regime. The dispensation led by Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy allotted land to the public in areas unfit for human habitation, he said, adding that the YSRCP deliberately derailed state housing programs and stopped welfare programs for the poor.
“Every system that stood behind the upliftment of the poor has been destroyed. It will take a very long time to rebuild the state and I am there,” Mr Naidu said.
Declaring that the NDA administration represents a “government for the poor” that is committed to repairing the damage, Mr Naidu said: “We have a lot of financial constraints, but we are committed to fulfilling all our promises.”
“That is why we are conducting gruhapravesams for three lakh houses across the state in a single day under the Pedalandariki Illu (houses for all poor) programme,” Mr Naidu said, pledging to complete the construction of the remaining units soon. “Up to 5.9 million houses will be handed over to beneficiaries by 2026,” he said.
“My aim is to ensure that every poor family in Andhra Pradesh owns a house by 2029,” the chief minister said, stressing that “a home is not just four walls but a symbol of dignity and security.” He said SC, ST and BC communities were given top priority in the housing scheme. “With unwavering determination, we are ready to achieve the goal of Swarna Andhra Pradesh by 2047,” he added.
Mr. Naidu said the government has expedited the process of registering the names of homeless families. He said attention was paid to alloting neighboring houses to members of the same family to strengthen social ties.
Renewable energy
Referring to the renewable energy (RE) sector, the chief minister urged housing beneficiaries to install rooftop solar panels. “We are leaving no stone unturned to generate energy from solar, wind and water. Every house and farm should be transformed into a precious source of energy,” said Mr. Naidu.
Highlighting the coalition government’s priority on industrial development, Mr. Naidu said 97 new industries were inaugurated in Kanigiri on November 11, 2025 (Tuesday).
Envisioning at least one entrepreneur in every family for which MSME parks were planned in all assembly constituencies, he said women would be encouraged and trained to become entrepreneurs.
Ministers K. Parthasarathy (Housing) and M. Ramprasad Reddy (Transport), District Collector Nishant Kumar, MLAs from the district and leaders of coalition parties were present.
