President YSRCP Yagan Mohan Reddy claimed that the main minister N. Chandrababu Naidu suppresses disagreement with state machinery.
In the X report on Saturday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the right to question, protest and assembly created the subsoil of democracy and seized citizens to freely express their complaints and demand responsibility.
In Andhra Pradesh, however, this basic democratic process crushed under the weight of the authoritarian regime led by the main Minister N. Chandrababa Naid.
The dissent was suppressed by the obvious abuse of police power. Each attempt by public or opposition parties about legitimate concerns was met with repression, harassment and inventing legal cases, claimed.
The intention was to hide the systematic suppression of the opposition, the public and democratic processes, he said.
Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy quoted the incidents that took place during his visit to the market court in Guntur, Rapthad, Sattenapalli, Pravi and Bangarupalyam, reflecting the government’s dictatorial attitude. The repressive tactics, including the Lathi-foot and restrictions on public gatherings, showed how the government is abusing the police to silence the opposition party and intimidate disagreement with legal harassment, he said.
