Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba, has made a remarkable claim regarding the Indian cricket team, saying that players get into different types of addictions during overseas tours. However, she emphasized that her husband Ravindra never indulged in any such habits.
Speaking at the event, Rivaba offered an insight into what she described as the lesser-known habits of cricketers, suggesting they can indulge in whatever they like away from the public eye. But she repeated that her husband does not suffer from any addiction despite the environment around him.
“My husband, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, has to travel to many countries like London, Dubai and Australia to play cricket. Despite this, he has never touched or indulged in any addiction or vice till date because he understands his responsibility. The rest of the team indulges in vices but there are no restrictions on them,” Rivaba said at the event.
In 2016, KL Rahul posted a photo on his social media holding a bottle of beer during the West Indies tour. The image immediately went viral and The BCCI had to direct the players to be extra careful when posting on social media. The board reportedly urged players to show moral responsibility when sharing content online, as they are role models for countless young children around the world. Rahul eventually had to delete the photo from his social media handles.
Earlier in 2024 the Union health ministry approached the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduce measures preventing athletes from participating in substitute advertising for tobacco and alcohol products. It recommended that the board issue clear guidelines ordering cricketers under its jurisdiction to refrain from any form of surrogate promotion, partnership or advertising involving tobacco-related products.
