The day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that West Bengal’s Jadavpur University had become a “symbol of anarchy under TMC rule”, its faculty on Saturday (April 25, 2026) said the institute was globally recognized as a center of excellence, “despite severe financial constraints”.
The Jadavpur University Teachers Association (JUTA) emphasized that along with academics and research, the institute plays a significant role in promoting social justice.
It claimed that “despite fulfilling all the criteria for being granted ‘Institute of Eminence’ status, the university has been deprived of due recognition”.
