
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff joined his forces with Peta India to take “Jumbo in kind” and give a mechanical life-size elephant to the ancient Temple of Kerala-Nediyathali Sri Siva in Kodungallur near Thussur.
Shroff appreciated this initiative and said that his heart lights up when he sees “God’s creature living happily”.
“Elephants are not intended to build on hard floors, carry people on their backs, or walk in circles with chains around their feet. God intended to spray them, roam into forests and only elections,” the actor said.

In her statement, Peta India stated that the temple welcomed it through a ceremonial inauguration, which also hosted the performance of “Panchari Melam”.
The temple President Suresh Babu also welcomed the mechanical elephant and said it was not only a symbol of tradition, but “a tribute to all the sacred beings created by the divine”.
“We can honor Lord Ganesh with this compassionate step without causing fear in any living being,” he said.

Thaleeswaren is the eleventh elephant robot donated to the temples of Peta India and the seventh in Kerala. It is the third such elephant, made of rubber, fiber, metal, nets, foams and steel, and powered by five engines, a donated temple in Thrissur.
“The mechanical elephant looks, feels and works like a real elephant. It can shake their heads, move ears and eyes, tail tail, lift the trunk and even spray water. It can be climbed and the seat can be attached to the back,” Peta India said.
“It simply works by connecting it to an electric source. It can be used through the streets and is mounted on the wheelbase, allowing it to move and push around for rituals and processions,” they added.
The mechanical jumbo will use the temple to perform ceremonies.
