
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain for Delhi on Sunday as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman prepares to present the Union Budget 2026-27 today. Many places in Delhi are likely to experience “very light rain/drizzle” in the next few hours, according to the IMD forecast.
On Sunday, the Met Dept has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusty winds over East Rajasthan. While dense fog has been predicted for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh is expected to experience a cold day on February 1.
The Met Office has also issued a warning for a new western disturbance which it says is likely to affect the north-west states from February 2.
Today’s weather in Delhi
The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky for Delhi on Sunday. A period of very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds of 30-40 km/h is said to be likely during the early morning to mid-morning.
In a press release, the meteorological agency also predicted another period of very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
Shallow to moderate fog in the morning is also in the forecast for Delhi. The fog is likely to continue for the next 5 days. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be between 17°C to 19°C and 10°C to 12°C respectively.
According to the Met Dept, the maximum temperature over Delhi is likely to be above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) throughout the day, while the minimum temperature is expected to be below normal (-3.1°C to 5.0°C).
It also predicted a rise in minimum temperatures of 3-5°C over the next 3 days, followed by a drop of 3-4°C.
Dense fog warning
The meteorological agency has predicted dense fog over isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh till February 1.
