Sony’s newly launched blockchain network Soneium seems to have become the target of crypto scammers. It is reported that for cheating users, malicious actors are spreading harmful links that appear in Google search results. Web3 anti-XCAM tool Scam Sniffer issued a warning about this growing threat to the global Web3 community. Meanwhile, since September, Circle, the issuer of USDC Stablecoin, has been working together to expand its ecosystem through Soneium.
In an alert posted on X, Scam Sniffer warned that anyone landing on this fake page pretended to be Soneium to risk losing their assets to cybercriminals.
The anti-scam platform states: “Even if you mistakenly spell ‘soneium’ as “Someium”, phishing will always happen.

The criminals behind scam links on Google search could put about 4.97 billion users at potential financial risks.
According to the scam’s sniffer, the infected link carries a special domain suffix that differs from the ones on the original Soneium website. A Cointelegraph report said the domain suffix of Fake’s website indicates that it is associated with the landing page of the UK Radio Service, and a Cointelegraph report said it interacted with Scam Sniffer.
Members of the crypto community have been warned not to interact with any suspicious websites that seem to mimic Soneium. So far, neither Sony nor the team behind Soneium has resolved this situation. Google has not commented on the development.
Soneium was launched in August this year and is a layer 2 network established on Ethereum. Sony has partnered with Startale Labs, the team behind Astar Network, to create this blockchain network to prove Sony’s willingness to explore the Web3 arena.
A note published on the official Soneium website says the blockchain is designed on the basis of “Open Internet” to encourage the creation of decentralized landscapes such as entertainment, gaming and financial sectors.
The verified Soneium official X handle @Soneium was founded in February this year and has attracted more than 77,900 followers since then.
