The Legal Coordination Committee (LCC) for Government Doctors has urged the Tamil Nadu government to obtain special permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to issue appointment orders to 751 doctors selected through the Medical Recruitment Board (MRB).
In a statement, the LCC said that although 1,071 doctors had been selected, only 320 had been issued so far. Only if they join the service by March will they be eligible to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
MRB has issued a notification on 21st November 2025 to fill 1100 doctor posts. 20,867 candidates appeared in the examination held on January 25, 2026, out of which 16,986 passed. After the certificate was verified, 1071 doctors were finally selected. The Minister of Health handed over appointment orders to the first 100 doctors, and applicants in the order of 101 to 320 also received appointments the following day.
The other candidates have not yet been invited to the consultation. The association urged the government to immediately issue appointment orders to the 751 pending doctors.
