ISRO is concentrating in Kerala to celebrate World Space Week 2026

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) centers in Thiruvananthapuram are jointly organizing this year’s World Space Week (WSW) celebrations from October 4 to October 10 under the theme ‘Rocket Revolution’.
Events planned as part of the celebration include lectures, a program for students “Your Space” and a program for the public. These events are organized by ISRO, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), Liquid Propulsion Systems Center (LPSC), ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST).
Interactive lectures
Interactive lectures are planned for students across Keralam both on campus and online. Lectures by scientists from four centers will take place from October 6 to October 10. The “Your Space” event gives students the opportunity to present their thoughts on a chosen topic. Schools are encouraged to register for the events through the website wsweek.vssc.gov.in. A public event is planned on October 10 at the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum, Thiruvananthapuram.
As part of this year’s events, the launch of a sounding rocket in TERLS, VSSC is also planned. WSW is celebrated around the world from October 4 to 10 each year to commemorate the launch of Sputnik, the first artificial satellite, on October 4, 1957, and the Outer Space Treaty, which entered into force on October 10, 1967.
