
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a phone call from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the continued momentum of the India-Israel strategic partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral ties for mutual benefit.
PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support to efforts for a just and lasting peace in the region, including the timely implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
In a press release, the Prime Minister’s Office said, “Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today received a phone call from the Prime Minister of Israel, HE Benjamin Netanyahu. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the continued momentum of the India-Israel strategic partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen these ties for mutual benefit.”
“The two leaders strongly condemned terrorism and reiterated their approach of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. They also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia.”
The two leaders also agreed to stay in touch.
India welcomes Gaza peace plan
India has urged a ceasefire, release of all hostages and peaceful resolution of the Israel-Hamas conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, the Center said in Parliament on Thursday. New Delhi also welcomed the agreement on the first phase of the Gaza peace plan.
Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, also said that India’s position on the issue has been reiterated in various bilateral and multilateral forums such as the UN, BRICS, NAM and Voice of Global South.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier welcomed the plan for an agreement between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
PM Modi also praised Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the deal was a reflection of the Israeli prime minister’s strong leadership while hoping for respite for the people of Gaza and paving the way for lasting peace.
