India is likely to be preparing to reduce its exports of refined oil products to other nations, if the conflict of Israel-Imán causes a block of naval operation through Hormuz, reported on the Bloomberg press agency and quoted Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
According to the report by Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, he also said that he was preparing to import oil from the outer Persian Gulf.
“We have enough stocks” of raw and refined products, said the Minister of Oil for the NDTV news portal. “We have enough diversified (raw) supplies,” and “and even if there should be disturbance, we can get it from alternative sources.”
Hormuz is a strategically important global business passage that supports almost a quarter of the world’s oil trade. It connects the Oman Gulf, the Arab Sea and the Persian Gulf.
Known concerns are caused by an ongoing conflict of Israel-Iran. However, there is no progress from Iran, which shows their goal to disrupt the transport passage, according to a separate report from the news agency.
Iran’s threat
Iran previously threatened other nations that at the time of conflict, Hormuz Strait of Hormuz would close. According to reports, however, nothing like that has happened.
The Union Minister Puri told the media that India consumes 5.5 million barrels of oil every day, and 1.5 million barrels of oil are imported on the water route.
“I don’t think it’s something we’re worried about,” Puri said, emphasizing the high range of oil on the current market, quoted by the press agency.
Export
As India may consider limiting the export of refined oil product to other nations, many nations will be influenced due to potential cuts.
Indian refiners like Mukesh Ambani-Lieded Industries and Nayara Energy supply refined oil products to nations such as the United Arab Emirates (SAE), Singapore, United States and Australia.
India exports nearly 1.3 million barrels a day in 2025, with most of the share of most, 82 % of exports originating in oil marketing companies such as Reliance and Nayara, said Kpler’s press agency.
