Israel has launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran, Defense Minister Israel Katz said Saturday.
“The State of Israel launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran to eliminate threats to the State of Israel,” Katz said.
Katz also said he had declared an “immediate state of emergency across the country.”
According to Israeli media and claims on social media, several explosions were heard, including those in Tehran.
Iran International reported that the office of Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei’s headquarters in central Tehran, was targeted in an attack on Saturday.
The attack comes after weeks of a US military build-up in the region, the largest of its kind since the invasion of Iraq.
