
Isolated summer showers are likely across the state through the weekend. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, a trough is moving from Marathwada to south coastal Karnataka across north interior Karnataka. An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over south interior Karnataka and surrounding areas at a height of 1.5 km above sea level. Isolated thunderstorms are likely across the state on Friday, Saturday and Sunday under the influence of the system.
Meanwhile, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) issued a heat alert for various districts on Thursday. Maximum temperatures are very likely to hover around 38°C at isolated places in Kollam, Kottayam and Palakkad districts; 37°C in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kannur; and 36°C in Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts (2 to 3°C above normal) on Thursday. These districts are very likely to experience hot and humid weather except the hilly areas.
