The Taliban leader said that executions were part of Islam, the days after four men were killed by shooting in Afghanistan after being convicted of murder.
The executions took place on Friday at sports stadiums, the highest number known to have been done in one day since the Taliban returned to power in 2021. Groups of rights and UN condemned killing.
Hibatullah Akhundzada has previously rejected the need for Western laws in Afghanistan.
In a sound clip issued on Sunday, the main spokesperson of the Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid on X Akhundzada said: “We must take disciplinary measures, conduct prayers and actions of worship. We have to enter Islam completely. Islam is not limited to a few rituals;
Not a single command of Islam should be left, he said during the 45 -minute speech in the southern province of Kandahar Seminar of the Instructors of the Hajj.
God ordered people to pray and promote their punishment, Akhundzada said, adding that the Taliban did not have a war for power or wealth, but rather to “implement Islamic law”. He refused to criticize the execution.
The Afghan Supreme Court had previously ruled that four men were guilty of murder. The death sentence was passed after the family of alleged victims refused to give men amnesty.
Akhundzady comments come when the Taliban is looking for a greater involvement between the international community, most recently in the West.
Last month, the United States raised rewards last month on three higher Taliban characters, including the Interior Minister, who also leads a powerful network accusing of bloody attacks against the former Afghan government supported by the Western match.
This year, the Taliban liberated four Americans from custody and described these editions as “normalization” of links between the US and Afghanistan.
