Ishan Kishan suffered an injury scare in Delhi ahead of the Afghanistan T20Is
India were left sweating just days before the first T20I against Afghanistan as Ishan Kishan suffered an injury scare during training on Friday 11 September. Kishan who joined the team after leading East Zone to the Duleep Trophy titlehe appeared to injure his back while batting in the nets. Kishan was trying to poke the bouncer off Navdeep Saini who was working as a net bowler for the Indian team.
The physio quickly attended to Kishan who appeared to be in some discomfort. The incident occurred at the end of his 45-minute session and he did not fire after that.
Fortunately, Kishan was able to walk after the problem and sat down on the ice with his teammates before leaving the field. According to visuals from the boundary, it did not appear to be a serious problem as Kishan was able to leave the field on his own.
KISHAN WATCHED TOUCH
The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman seemed to be in good rhythm throughout the 45-minute session. He looked fluent in the pull game and batted alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer during practice. on the other hand Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seen batting alongside Sanju Samson the duo could fight for a starting spot on Sunday.
Kishan has been a vital cog in the Indian team ever since he returned to the side. After impressing during last year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the Jharkhand wicketkeeper made the Indian squad just ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Kishan has scored 812 runs from 23 T20Is in 2026, the second highest this year. India will hope that the problem is less for Kishan as the wicket-keeper batsman will also be on the flight to Japan where he will also be part of the Asian Games squad.
India and Afghanistan will face off in the 1st T20I on Sunday, September 13.
