Ishan Kishan Shines on SRH Debut With a Stunning Century
Ishan Kishan made a spectacular debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), smashing a brilliant hundred against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a high-octane IPL clash. The left-handed batsman dominated RR’s bowling attack, powering his team to a massive first innings total.
Having spent several years with Mumbai Indians (MI), Kishan was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. SRH seized the opportunity, acquiring him for INR 11.25 crore, and he repaid their faith with a match-winning performance in his very first game.
Ishan Kishan on the Differences Between MI and SRH
After seven years with Mumbai Indians, Kishan transitioned to a new team environment at SRH. Following his century, he praised the team’s openers for setting a solid foundation and highlighted the contrasting atmospheres between MI and SRH.
“It feels great. I was hoping for this century,” Kishan told the broadcaster after the match. “The team is performing well, and the environment here is very different. When Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head started the innings, they gave us batters a lot of confidence. Credit goes to them as well.”
He added, “The pitch was excellent, and we aimed to keep the bowlers under pressure. It’s about staying focused and not panicking.”
Kishan, batting at No. 3, maintained the momentum set by Head and Sharma, accelerating throughout his innings. His celebration after reaching the century was a testament to his joy and relief after a stellar performance.
Records Tumble as Kishan Lights Up the IPL
Kishan’s century, achieved in just 45 balls, became the second-fastest hundred by an Indian in IPL history. He tied with Mayank Agarwal, who had scored a 45-ball ton for Kings XI Punjab against Rajasthan Royals in 2020. Yusuf Pathan holds the record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian, smashing 100 off 37 balls in 2010.

SRH Clinch Victory in a High-Scoring Thriller

Rajasthan Royals fought valiantly in their chase but fell 44 runs short, finishing at 242/6. Despite fifties from Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, RR couldn’t overcome SRH’s mammoth score, handing the home team a commanding victory.
Kishan’s debut century not only marked a dream start to his SRH journey but also solidified his reputation as one of the most explosive batsmen in the IPL. With SRH’s strong start to the season, fans will be eager to witness more fireworks from the left-hander in the games to come.
