
As Bengal gets a new government under CM candidate Suvendu Adhikari, candidate affidavits reveal vast wealth across party lines, especially within the BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC). Several MLAs have assets worth over ₹40 crores, which makes one wonder if Suvendu Adhikari himself is among the richest legislators of Bengal.
Who are the richest MLAs in Bengal?
BJP MLA Dilip Saha from Nabagram (SC) in Murshidabad is the richest MLA in Bengal with total assets worth ₹CZK 43.03 million including movable property ₹16.58 crores and immovable property ₹26.45 million crowns.
AITC MLA Ahmed Javed Khan from Kasba in South 24 Parganas came second with assets worth ₹39.53 million crowns. His movable property stood at ₹15 million, while the real estate was valued at ₹24.53 million crowns.
AITC’s Bayron Biswas, MLA from Sagardighi in Murshidabad, is ranked third with total assets of ₹33.42 million crowns.
All three legislators have provided PAN details in their affidavits.
Is Suvendu Adhikari among the richest politicians of West Bengal?
No, Suvendu Adhikari is not one of the richest MLAs in Bengal
In an election affidavit filed before contesting the 2026 West Bengal elections, ₹85.87 lakh”> Suvendu Adhikari declared net worth ₹85.87 crores. This includes ₹24.57 million chattels and ₹61.30 lakh in immovable property, according to the affidavit.
In movable property, Adhikari stated that he had cash in hand ₹12,000 and does not own a car or any other private vehicle. Adhikari declared ‘nil’ even in the jewelery column.

Crorepati Winning Candidates: Of the 292 winning candidates analyzed, 178 (61%) are crorepatis. Of the 292 MLAs analyzed during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, 158 (54%) MLAs were crorepati.
