Tensions flared in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh after multiple crude bombs exploded there on Sunday, including arson attacks, ahead of the verdict in the crimes against humanity trial of ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina today. Her son and counsel argued that the court was likely to sentence her to death, saying his mother was safe in India.
“We know exactly what the verdict will be. They are televising it. They will convict her and probably sentence her to death. What can they do to my mother? My mother is safe in India. India gives her full protection,” Sajeeb Wazed, who lives in Washington, was quoted as saying by Reuters.
