An ISIS terrorist named Saeedullah, who confessed to receiving training in Pakistan before infiltrating Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, has been arrested, according to Tolo News, citing Afghan security forces.
According to ANI, the authorities released a video showing the detainee admitting to using a fake identity card under the name “Mohammad” to enter Afghanistan. He also revealed that he underwent ideological and combat training in Pakistan’s Quetta region.
An ISIS operative stated: “When I entered Afghanistan with a fake identity card, my name was Mohammad here. In Quetta, when I went to the mountains, a great effort was made to mentally indoctrinate me.”
The development has sparked regional disputes over Pakistan’s alleged role in harboring and training terrorist elements. Analysts suggest that the continued killings and arrests of ISIS members on both sides of the Durand Line underscore Islamabad’s complicity in perpetuating insecurity in Afghanistan, Tolo News noted.
Military expert Yousuf Amin Zazai said: “I can say with certainty that Afghanistan is neither a source nor a center of terrorism. These terrorists are financed from the region and operate under different names.”
Political analyst Naqibullah Noori shared a similar view: “This shows that Pakistan’s claims are false and now it has been proven that Pakistan and its government are the center of terrorist training.
Meanwhile, on January 22, Afghanistan’s Central Security and Clearance Commission said newly recruited ISIS fighters were being flown from airports in Karachi and Islamabad to training camps in Balochistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tribal areas. The statement added that these fighters were trained to carry out attacks in regional countries, particularly Afghanistan.
Delhi court sends 2 ISIS operatives to judicial custody
In related news, a Patiala House court on Thursday remanded two ISIS operatives, both named Adnan Khan, to judicial custody following police interrogation, according to ANI. After spending three days in police custody, they were brought to court. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police arrested them in connection with an alleged terror conspiracy case.
The accused were produced before First Class Magistrate (JMFC) Vanshik Mehta. Adnan Khan from Delhi was arrested on 17 October while Adnan Khan from Bhopal was taken into custody on 19 October. The court initially sent them to police custody, which was later extended.
The Investigating Officer (IO) filed a judicial remand for the two persons, saying that an alarm had been restored at Adnan Khan’s residence in Delhi and that he had allegedly taken an oath to ISIS. After considering the submissions, the court remanded both accused.
