Is Hardik Pandya really injured? Well, that will be the question on everyone’s mind when they see the Mumbai Indians captain sweating it out in the nets during the overnight session. Hardik posted a couple of videos on his official Instagram account where he was seen dismantling the bowler.
Hardik has been sidelined since MI’s El Clasico loss to CSK on 2 May and did not travel with the opening group of players from Mumbai to Dharamshala for their next match against Punjab Kings on 14 May. Hardik has missed the last two matches due to back spasms.
But the Indian all-rounder has now indicated with his intense training that he is fit and ready to make a comeback if needed. Hardik was seen training at the Reliance facility and showed no mercy to the bowlers when he took them on. The MI captain trained alone at the facility and showed no signs of discomfort while batting. You can watch the full video below:
WHAT HE SAID ABOUT HIMT HARDIK’S FITNESS?
MI coach Mahela Jayawardene released a fitness update on Hardik right after their loss to RCB. The Mumbai coach said that Hardik has a back problem and the medical team is still working on him to get the all-rounder back on the field.
Jayawardene said they were not willing to take chances with the all-rounder and go into things day-to-day.
“Yeah. Hardik had a back problem that we’ve been trying to fix, but it’s not resolved yet. So the doctors have been working on him. He hasn’t been able to train for the last few days, so we didn’t want to take any chances without knowing exactly. So we’ll see. It’s day-to-day. See how he feels.”
And then we will decide on that,” said Jayawardene.
MI are already out of IPL 2026 as they have just six points from 11 matches. There were rumors of a rift between Hardik and MI after unfollowing them on social media, but it looks like the all-rounder is determined to return to the pitch by his side.
