Although there is no lack of funds for the projects of rail and national motorways, the Karnataka irrigation projects have been in Limbo for many years because the center did not publish the announced funds, said another main secretary Gaurav Gupta.
He approved a special representative of the State Government in the new TB of TB Jayacandra and the Vice-Chairman of the State Policy and the Planning Commission, BR Patil, on the release of the Central Government for State Development for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 on Tuesday.
“The announced funds from the center are not published for water resources and minor irrigation and projects of groundwater development. Therefore, state irrigation projects have been in limbo for many years,” he said.
Although the Central Government announced 5,300 GBP Crore in the 2023-2024 budget for the UPPER BHADRA project, funds were not published.
The neighboring government of Telangany has responded positively to the irrigation projects of Krishna and Tungabhadra, while the government Andr Pradesh took a negative attitude and therefore the irrigation project was delayed, he said.
Mr. Gupta informed Mr. Jayaclandry and Mr. Patil that although the Minister of Water Resources called Union, no one from Andhra Pradesh took part. “Andr Pradesh and Tamil States do not respond positively to Karnataka projects. We should push the central government to ensure that Andr Pradesh and Tamil’s governments agree with the Karnataka projects,” he said.
Mr. Jayacandra said that the necessary financial assistance to the five food parks that are established in the state should be provided and work on projects should be accelerated.
In order to officials working at food parks in Kalaburgi, Hiriyur, Jeswargi, Malur and KR Pet – which have been stopped for decades – should be completed first.
He said he would put pressure on the Minister of the Union to obtain the waiting funds from the Center for the Jal Jeevan project.
Mr. Patil said that all national highways adjacent to the state border areas should be developed within a set time frame.
He informed the officials that if any projects were waiting for financing from the center, he and Mr. Jayacandra would meet the ministers of the trade unions to obtain vacant funds.
