Ireland’s versatile Curtis Campher on Thursday performed cricket history and became the first male professional cricket to take five goals in five consecutive vans. A remarkable success came during the strong victory of Munster Reds over the northwest warriors in the inter-provincial T20 Trophy in the Pembroke Cricket Club in Sandymount in Dublin.
26 -year -old Captain Munster Reds created a stunning charm that saw the warriors collapsed from 87 in 5 to 88, at just 13.3 overs, chased the target 189.
His historical run began with the penultimate ball of 12th when he cleaned Jared Wilson with a sharp inswinger. He watched it with a van that was imprisoned by Graham Hume LBW. He returned in 14th place and Campher finished the hat -trick by dismissing Andy McBrine’s first ball. Then he continued to remove Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson two more supplies and seized five goals in five balls – unprecedented performance in the men’s cricket.
Reflection at the moment Campher said:
“Because of the change of breaks, I wasn’t quite sure what was going on. I just stuck to my weapons and kept it really simple – and fortunately it worked out.”
Although he is the first man to achieve a professional cricket, Campher is not the first cricket overall. This distinction belongs to Zimbabwe women’s versatile Kelis Ndhl, which in 2024 claimed five goals in five balls for Zimbabwe U-19 against the Eagles Women in the home match T20.
Campher is not alien to the production of magical moments in the field. During the World Cup 2021 T20, four goals were taken to four balls to Ireland against the Netherlands – joined the selected group of pitching to do so at the international level.
Previously, in Munster Reds, he published a competing 188 for 7 out of their 20 overs after Bat decided. Campher’s record charm then ensured that the total number was never seriously questioned.
Since his debut for Ireland in 2020, Campher has played seven tests, 43 ODIS and 61 T20is and his latest performance his place among the most influential Irish crickets.
