Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi told Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that the Belagavi district administration had not violated any rule to bar Maharashtra MP Dhairyasheel Mane from entering Belagavi district.
Mr. Kadadi met Mr. Birla in New Delhi on Monday in support of the Belagavi district administration in connection with the complaint lodged by Mr. Man against Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan to the Speaker’s office.
Mr. Kadadi spent some time with Mr. Birla to explain the matter. He stated that there was no violation of the MP’s rights by the deputy commissioner.
In a statement, Mr. Kadadi said Belagavi district borders Maharashtra and Goa and citizens of all languages, including Kannada, live there in harmony with a sense of brotherhood. However, some organizations are organizing Black Day events and protests on the occasion of Rajyotsava on November 1 and during the Belagavi Winter Session.
“Many leaders from neighboring states come to such protest meetings and give provocative speeches which cause unnecessary confusion. In such a situation, it is the paramount duty of the district administration to protect the interests of all the linguistic people living there,” he said.
“In this context, the decision of Deputy Commissioner Belagavi, who is the District Magistrate, to restrict the entry of MP Dhairyasheel Mane, who intended to attend the Black Day meeting, is not a violation of rights but a legal measure to maintain peace and order in the district,” he said.
“In this situation, it is extremely unreasonable and illogical to demand legal action against Deputy Speaker Belagavi by filing a complaint against him (the Speaker) alleging that the MP’s rights were violated. The Deputy Commissioner justified the order as completely constitutional and within the scope of the law and informed the Speaker of the current situation and provided relevant details,” he said.
The lecturer listened to the patient and answered in the affirmative. He assured that he will not take any unilateral decision but will investigate the background of this incident. He assured the people of Karnataka that there was no need to worry, Mr. Kadadi said in a release.
