The US military strikes, which were not previously reported, came during negotiations to end the three-month-old war that has killed thousands and sent global energy prices soaring since it began on February 28 with attacks by the US and Israel.

Around 1:30 a.m. local time, three explosions were heard east of the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas. It is the second time the US has launched strikes against Iran amid an ongoing ceasefire, which Iran has called a violation of the countries’ fragile ceasefire.
