IPS officers Kanthi Rana Tata, Vishal Gunni get suspension after recall
The state government on Sunday transferred and posted several IPS officers, including 2004-batch officer Kanthi Rana Tata and 2005-batch officer Vishal Gunni, who were suspended in connection with actress Kadambari Jethwani case. The rejig also included the appointment of new Superintendents of Police (SPs) for the three districts.
The government recently revoked the suspension of Mr. Tata, who was Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada, and Mr. Gunni, who served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Vijayawada. Ms Jethwani and her family faced charges of unlawful restraint and harassment in connection with the case. Both officers were awaiting their posts after their suspensions were lifted.
On Sunday evening, the government issued an order posting Mr. Tata as Inspector General of Police, Directorate of Traffic Management and Road Safety. Mr. Gunni has been posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police for Training in the existing vacancy and has been given full additional pay as Director, Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA) till further orders.
Meanwhile, in 2005, CM batch officer Thrivikram Varma, who was serving as Director General of Special Protection Force, was transferred and appointed as Inspector General of Police and Director of Forensic Science Laboratory in the existing vacancy.
Anti-Corruption Bureau Director R. Jayalakshmi has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, CID Cyber Crimes. AP Special Police Battalions IG B. Raja Kumari has been transferred and posted as IG, Railways, in the existing vacancy and given full additional pay as IG, CID Women Safety, until further orders.
Babujee Attada, DIG, Greyhounds, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Technical Services, against the existing vacancy and given full allowance as DIG, Greyhounds.
The government has also appointed SPs for three new districts. Pankaj Kumar Meena, OSD, Polavaram, has been transferred and posted as SP, Markapuram district against the existing vacancy. Jagadeesh Adahalli has been transferred and posted as SP, Palnadu District, while K. Chakravathi, SP, CID, has been transferred and posted as SP, Polavaram District.
