IPL: MI, PBKS discuss Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh trade

MUMBAI: The IPL trading window has come alive with a potential blockbuster between Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh. TOI has learned that Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are in advanced discussions over a trade that could see India’s leading left-arm seamer move to Mumbai in exchange for the star all-rounder ahead of next month’s IPL auction.“Talks regarding Hardik are at an advanced stage between Punjab Kings and MI. If PBKS part ways with Arshdeep to get Hardik, they could try to bring in the left-arm pacer from another franchise or target the auction. But nothing is finalised,” a source following the development told TOI.Hardik’s future has emerged as the biggest talking point of the business season. TOI understands that Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants have also expressed interest in signing him. “The challenge for any franchise is that Mumbai Indians are likely to let Hardik go without receiving proven core players in return,” the source said. “A big move in the trade market could hinge on where Hardik ends up. One deal could trigger several more as teams look to fill the voids created by such a trade.”As part of their efforts to secure Hardik, PBKS could consider releasing players like Marcus Stoinis and Nehal Wadhera ahead of the December 16 mini-auction. Hardik would only join Punjab as a player and Shreyas Iyer would continue as captain. With the BCCI extending the trade window deadline to November 17, there is still time for all parties to finalize what could be one of the most significant players in IPL history.
