In a revealing look into the Chennai Super Kings auction strategy, Ravichandran Ashwin explained how the franchise managed to pull the coup to secure Dewald Brevis despite the strong interest of other teams. According to Ashwin’s words, CSK landed with a “crown jewel” by signing the brevis as a compensation at the beginning of this year during the IPL.
On his channel on YouTube Ashwin revealed that several franchises wanted to sign brevis as a replacement, but CSK succeeded by offering a higher fee after intensive negotiations with his agents. During the IPL, the brevis was very demanded, although it was not sold last year in a two-day mega-auction. Ashwin said several teams dealt with 22 -year -old miracle of batting, but most retreated because they were not willing to pay more than its basic price (R 75 lakh), which is needed to ensure its signature.
“Brevis had a wild second half of the season for CSK,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. “I heard that 2-3 teams were dealing with him, but they were not willing to pay extra, so the negotiations failed.”
Brevis was signed in CSK 18th April, in the middle of the IPL 2025 season. Chennai fought with their branding line -up in the tournament and desperately needed to bring new players. The team signed Ayush Mhatre and Brevis as a replacement and rewarded rewards in the last few games.
“If I come now and do well, my value is rising. So pay me for this value.” CSK nailed it by getting him for any number he negotiated.
“I really feel that CSK burst their combination in the back half and they head for a mini-auction with CRS 30 in hand, with the potential to assemble the tournament side. Next season CSK looks first-class and right,” he concluded.
Brevis lit up in IPL 2025 and hit 225 runs in 6 matches. He scored two half -century and fired a strike of 180. Brevis recently broke his first century T20i for South Africa against Australia and violated several records in this process, including the youngest of his country to achieve this performance.
