Prodigy Vabihav Sooryavanshi is in beast mode in IPL 2026
15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest player in men’s T20 cricket to reach 1,000 runs and did it faster than anyone before him – getting there in just 473 balls, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Mitchell Owen (533 balls) during a blistering century in the Hybridabad 2PL knockout at Sunrisers 26.The teenager hit a breathtaking 36-ball century in IPL 2026 – now the third-fastest hundred in the league’s history, behind only Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball blitz and his own 35-ball effort from last season. That innings was a statistical firestorm in itself. Sooryavanshi smashed 12 sixes, the most by an Indian in a single IPL innings, surpassing the previous mark of 11 jointly held by Murali Vijay and himself. In the history of the IPL, only a handful of innings have contained more maximums. He is now among a select group of players alongside Abhishek Sharma with multiple IPL knocks of 10 or more sixes while also becoming the first batsman to score more than one IPL hundred in under 40 balls.
